Approximately 10,000 tons of river sand were used in an area of about 7,000 square meters to create 200 space-themed sand sculptures by 25 sand sculpture artists, which are visited by local and foreign tourists. Festival coordinator Cem Karaca said, “We started the space adventure theme last year and it was very well received. Due to the demand we have received, we have decided to continue the theme as the space adventure theme again. At the same time, we have opened a special section dedicated to rockets sent to space with historical significance. We offer our visitors the opportunity to watch Saturn, Jupiter, and the Moon especially in the evenings with very powerful telescopes for free. We have a special area for children, a magical sand castle. With a basic training lasting 1 hour using kinetic sand and modeling pens, kids can create their first three-dimensional art pieces. Visitors who come at night have the chance to see the sculptures in a colorful ambiance at the festival area.”
Some of the space-themed artworks in the area are as follows: Star Trek, Star Gate, Star Wars, Darth Vader, Yoda, Baby Yoda, Mandalorian, Leonardo Da Vinci, Laika, Galileo Galilei, V2 Rocket, Vostok 3 KA Rocket, Yuri Gagarin, Neil Armstrong, Mars Civilization, Saturn Rocket, Ariane Rocket, E.T, SpaceX Dragon 2 Capsule, Elon Musk, Galata Tower, Hezarfen Ahmed Celebi, First Step, Solaris, Icarus, Fifth Element, Zeppelin, UFO, Discovery, Challenger, Pyramids of Giza, Sphinx, Rocket Exhibition, Guardian of the Galaxies, Paul, Interstellar, Prometheus, Solar System, Voyager, Apollo Space Capsule, Avatar, Soul of the Universe.
