Due to the works, the services between Kocatepe-Otogar, Esenler-Otogar, and Terazidere-Otogar stations on February 8th, Saturday from 10:30 pm to 12:00 am, as well as on February 9th, Sunday from 6:00 am to 12:00 am, have been suspended. Some passengers who were not informed about the arrangement experienced inconvenience at the metro stations.
During these hours, the free IETT bus services between Otogar-Kocatepe, Otogar-Esenler, and Otogar-Terazidere were insufficient. As passengers who were unaware of the situation were directed to the buses, overcrowding occurred in the metros. In Esenler, passengers exiting the metro were directed to the free services through announcements made with megaphones by the staff.
Some passengers in the metro had to climb stairs with baby strollers and bags. “THIS WORK CAN BE DONE FROM NIGHT UNTIL MORNING” Bekir Karataş, who wanted to go to the bus station, said that the same situation had occurred about a month ago.
Karataş stated, “This work can be done from night until morning. We are not against the works, but it should not be done on a Sunday or during weekdays’ working hours.” He mentioned that there was no information in the metro and said, “I boarded at Kirazlı and got off at Esenler. If I had known, I wouldn’t have used the metro, I would have come by car.”
